House versus Home

A house is a place where people stay. It is only a place for shelter. A home, however, is a house with a difference. It makes people feel cocooned and warm. It offers more than shelter. It offers its occupants will a feeling of warmth.

It doesn’t take much effort, however, to turn a house into a home. A home is a place where a family can live. The children can come back from school to a haven where they know they are cared for. After a tiring day at the office, the couch in your home is the place where you unwind. It’s a place where you can be yourself.

Choosing curtains

Curtains frame windows, and help darken rooms according to the user's preference. However, more importantly, curtains help enliven the room with their various colors and fabrics. Curtains must suit the purpose they're intended to serve. Therefore choosing curtains with care and precision is of utmost importance.

Curtains should match the color of the walls, and should blend in or stand out in complete contrast - whatever effect one might want to create. Curtain fabrics also must be selected with care, as very elaborate curtains demand a lot of maintenance. The mood and setting of the room too condition the choice of curtains.

Decorating the Drawing room

The most beautiful room in the house should be the drawing room as it is the room where the visitor's are made to sit. It should be bright and colorful. The walls should be painted in a color which is similar to that of the furniture int he room. The lighting in a drawing room should also be done well so that it remains well lit even at night. There should not be too much of furniture in the drawing room as it will make it the room claustrophobic. The curtains should be in a color similar to that of the wall and the furniture.

What do you actually call a home?

There is something entirely distinctive in the meaning attached to the term "home". A humble cottage may be a home but a large beautiful mansion may just be a work of art . The word "house" refers to a place to live whereas this same place when nurtured and cared for turns into a "home".

The sole purpose of using the word "home" is to emphasize on the care and nurturing put into it to transform it from just a layer of bricks and a roof to a place where the family is of prime importance. A house may just refer to brick structure , with a roof , an address an a pin code. A home would refer to almost the same with the distinction of being a place for the family.
